Course Objectives

Cotton to Thread Program
Objective 1

To introduce participants to the fundamentals of eco-friendly cotton, including cultivation practices, harvesting, and the importance of sustainable cotton production.

Objective 2

To develop practical skills in raw cotton processing, cleaning, carding, and preparing fibers using traditional methods.

Prerequisites & Policies

Prerequisites

No prior experience is required. The workshop is open to beginners interested in traditional textile skills.

Attendance

Active participation in all practical sessions including processing and spinning is required.

Practical Assessment

Evaluated on skill development, understanding of traditional techniques, and thread consistency.

Final Submission

Participant must submit handspun thread samples demonstrating proper techniques.

Course Outcomes

Participants will understand the complete journey of cotton—from eco-friendly cultivation to hand-spun thread—while gaining practical, sustainable textile skills.

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a Certificate in Handloom Skill Development.
